From week to week, the conjecture at Fiat Chrysler continues to mount. Will FCA’s future involve General Motors? VW? Perhaps even Ford or PSA (the two most recent rumors)? Or possibly Geely?
The world’s stock exchanges would clearly reward the acquisition of Jeep, the real target of all five potential buyers. The issue has been merely how to get your hands on Jeep, but how to obtain the iconic off-road brand at the lowest possible price?
But increasingly the potential buyers are viewing the FCA situation in a different light: the danger of allowing Jeep to fall into the hands of a competitor, and that is the kind of concern that Sergio Marchionne is trying to exploit.
